Abigail-a Puppy Mill Dogs Story

Today i want to share a beautiful, touching page about a wonderful Golden retriever dog and her compassionate loving family.

They inadvertently bought her from a puppy mill and she had every problem a puppy farm puppy could have but they loved her and stuck by her through it all and she gave them so much love and devotion.

This page will make you cry but also give you insight to the true spirit of love and devotion between a human and a dog.

Within the story of this family is also the message about puppy mills or puppy farms. Essentially Puppy Mills are a deplorable place where female dogs are made to have puppies many, many  times and male dogs are just stud machines. The parent dogs have no life, no love, no play. Often conditions (which may be hidden from the public) are terrible for the dogs. Dogs are usually not socialised-their sole purpose is to breed.

Often puppies are taken away from Mum too early, to be sold to unsuspecting families. Sadly many puppies do not thrive well and often have many or severe health and or behavioural problems. It is cruel for all the dogs concerned and can be devastating for families.

Although this family loved their Abigail and would have never given her up for anything, they would not buy from a puppy farm again. This time they didn't know it was a puppy farm and it can be very hard to tell sometimes. The strong message in this story is do not buy from puppy mills.

Could You, Would You Adopt An Older Dog?

Everyone likes a puppy but there are so many older dogs in rescue as well who also deserve a home. Could You, Would You  Adopt An Older Dog?

When you think of getting a dog to add to your family do you think of a puppy or does an  older dog ever appeal to you ?

Often overlooked these oldier dogs also need loving homes. Some are pedigree, some mixed breed. Many still in very good health with many years ahead of them. What if you could make a senior dogs day by taking him/her home with you ?

Many people have worries that if they take on an older dog, the dog may die soon, or that there will be expensive vet bills. However, while valid points vet bills can and do come along for dogs at any age. A young age does not mean good health. also with a pup there are many added costs of neutering, vaccinations, vet checks etc

If you are looking for a dog take a look at this site where the benefits and considerations of older dogs are discussed in a practical and pragmatic way.

If you dont need a puppy maybe an older dog might just be the one that you want?

Neuter and Spay please !

Wonderful video from the Oldies Club about why we all should be neutering and spaying our animal friends.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MWiLfGmBDO0

There are just too many unwanted dogs and cats in the world. We must not add to the misery of these unwanted kittens and puppies by allowing our pet to mate by mistake and produce pups or kittens no one wants.

Responsible breeders make sure the animal is very well looked after during pregnancy and that there are caring, loving homes for the offspring to go to and always take back the dog or cat if there is a problem.

By the time you have taken in to account extra food, vaccinations, vet bills, time, effort, nights up and finding caring dedicated homes for the litters etc It is not an easy way to make money.

Unplanned and unwanted litters and sometimes the pregnant Mum often end up in the pound, rescue or on the streets or dumped to die.

Spread the word to make the sensible choice for your pet and do not take the risk.

Terrible Cruelty To Cats.

Please keep a watch on you r pet cat. You love him or her and would not believe what cruelty some people will do.

Please read this article about cat cruelty. It is a difficult read emotionally,  but something you need to be aware of if you have a cat.

I do not blame the dogs in any way. I do not believe its even the breed of dog , its the way they are raised and trained and in this case brutalised.   Its the people who are doing this.
